I am a woman,
Not a burden!
I can give you a good child,
For a good nation!
Please don’t torture me!
Please don’t harass me!
My grease-point cannot cover my confused face,
But no-one asks or cares about it!
My upper smile doesn’t cover my inner sorrow,
But no-one comes to wipe my tears!
Even my own children fear!
What should I do!?
When I tell others about these,
They say “Woman should tolerate!”
They say, “That’s what God wants!”
They blame my fate for these all!
What should I do!?
Sometimes, I feel like leaving this house!
But where will I go?
Who will listen to me?
Who will trust me?
Who will give me house to live?
Who will give me food to eat?
Who will bring my children up?
Who will give me water to sup?
What should I do!?
He again comes!
I again try to escape!
He again pulls me down to the floor by grabbing my hair and my hands!
I again beg for my life!
He again demands for my silence!
He again says that I have no right to live!
An again kicks, beats and horrifies me by his dreadful foot!
And even threatens that if I seek justice, he will not bide for others to take out his gun and then shoot!
What should I do?
I have known what to do now?
I have thought what should I do, now?
I will not, bear these anymore!
I will protest against violence!
I will protest for freedom and justice!
I know, I am not alone who have suffered injustice!
I know, I hope, I will get fair low!
With all, other women,
I will get rectitude,
I will get freedom,
I will get my rights!!!
I will enjoy my rights!!!
*This poem is dedicated for the women, who are suffering or have suffered from domestic violence
